Known. Thin gold coverings were found on the shoe fittings of a young woman.
The grave is Burial 11 at the Karakabak cemetery, near Aktau, in western Kazakhstan. It dates to the second half of the fifth century, or the early sixth century AD, about 1,500 years ago. The gold is a thin sheet over wood or other material, so the shoes look golden. She also wore a headdress with round gold plaques and a belt with gold-covered pieces. The belt and shoe buckles were not made to work in daily life. They seem to have been made for the burial.
The page says it is still not proved that Karakabak is the old place called Aspabota.
