Coffins of the singers of Amun

Luxor's West Bank. about 1070 to 664 BC. First cities. Known. Free

Known. Many coffins carry the title singer of Amun, not a personal name.

The cache is in the courtyard of the Tomb of Seneb, at Qurna on Luxor's West Bank, in Egypt. It dates to the Third Intermediate Period, about 1070 to 664 BC. Twenty-two painted wooden coffins were stacked in ten rows inside a rock-cut room. Lids and bases were separated so more would fit. Eight papyri, some still sealed with clay, were inside a large jar. Pots thought to belong to mummification were there too.

The page says the first tombs, and the people's names, are still not known.
